In this episode, I design and build my own device that reminds to complete 6 tasks each day. Each flick on the switch is accompanied by a tiny boost in dopamine. Inspired by @Simone Giertz "The Everyday Calendar" but with 6 reminders instead of one.
The full code, CAD and illustrator files as well as the schematic for the electronics can be found here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JT_uNP8yWYnl9HUFpKN8J3Ya1B2z1zBw

Everything's coming together in this episode. It really proves that learning a variety of skills can be worth it in the long run for solving problems you still have not encountered

Edit: could actually be a cool future project to learn some electronics and build a circuit. You can design PCBs in cad to be made up or use protoboards.

I usually hit up admin to swipe my card, then go down and to the left to electrical, there’s always something I gotta do in there, and by that point someone’s probably dead

You should do a switch in the back or a timer or something that dims or turns off the lights in the night :)
Or maybe you could tap the box to wake it up (you could sense this by sensing the change in electrical charge or use a vibration sensor) and that would wake it up for a couple of minutes before it would fall back asleep. That would also probably improve battery life

Adding the sound for each single task and a little chime upon completing all 6 would boost your Dopamine even more, I think. Really neat little thing!

Are you 'avin a laugh? Is he 'avin a laugh?
here's a tip: you can dull an LED somewhat by roughing up the surface with some fine sandpaper... it has the effect of frosted glass and scatters the light enough to reduce glare and brightness.
