For well over a century, cars, trucks, and SUV’s have been manufactured and built in the same fashion. Today, though, there’s a company that’s doing things a bit different. The Czinger 21C is one of the most impressive vehicles ever built. Even more impressive than the car, though, is how the car gets designed and made. We’re going to take a look at how artificial intelligence, with the help of 3D printing, may change the entire automotive industry, and how a small team in California could make it happen sooner than you think.

Doesn't take AI to realize the absurdity of using an overly lit green screen behind a commentator, so that you can replace it with an orange screen in post production.... ahem. PS if you were to replace the orange backdrop with teal or blue, the green edging on the commentator would be a lot less distracting and jarring.

Nice. A car you definitely can’t afford made in the easiest cheapest way for the manufacturer? No tooling? What about the billion dollars in robotic arms. And no people?? Don’t make me laugh, wait til something breaks or shuts down for no reason. Lol. Don’t forget the janitor. Fucking car should cost $1000 max in full production but I bet you’ll see over $100,000. I love it jobs lost as manufacturing gets easier, and the end cost still goes up. Who’s going do drive these, robots?

Video for fools! Software to design those kind of structures has been used for more than 10 years ago. None use that because you need a 3D printer to manufacture that design. Brembo used that about 10 years ago for their calipers but they didn't need 3D printer but only multi axes drill machines. Bugatti last year 3Dprinted calipers with same technology and reduced the weight about 40% but they didn't need AI.
Also, about AI, which doesn't exist at all, it's just a software that is connected to every possible database.

So one big thing. I am concerned about the use of AM as a means of constructing safety critical components. The fatigue behavior of AM materials is not well understood enough to construct reliable fatigue life models. For one of these vehicles to be on the road and whit power out puts being that high I would want it to be inspected regularly with non-destructive methods for the purpose of crack detection. There are reasons why vehicles are currently made using conventional techniques. Primarily it is because of the wealth of information there is on the topic. Such wealth does not yet exist for AM materials. In conclusions I find this to be an educational exercise, but I would not be surprised if it does not meet approval for road use.

Now it would be cool to actually see the car up close and hear it. Everything is great until you hear them say they will build 80 units. How much will those first 80 cost? Two or three million dollars. I want a car like that to cost around $26000. Everyone in my neighborhood would have a 1200hp car.

Plus the speed will raise the death rate but at that price you can't beat that. Anyway in the end hopefully if we're smart enough. I just though of this; there will be 2 types of fuel burned diesel and EVs. And 1 EV; Tesla. Not to mention solar and wind and water thats another three was up people where we stand on big oil bitches? They throats thats the answer man up and say was up

All the focus on the AU, but the additive manufacturing will bottleneck the process so blind, you'd need a huge amount of printers to maintain component availability. Good concept though.

As a designer working with computational engineering and additive manufacturing:
Computational engineering is no holy truth, it does take a serious amount of interpretation and rerunning calculations (again and again and again) until a satisfying result is achieved. 3D printing is also a very expensive and very slow process in comparison to conventional machining (say milling, turning, grinding,...), and most of the time it still needs finishing with conventional methods as surface roughness is not sufficient (at least, it isn't sufficient for our applications). The combination of Additive Manufacturing and conventional machining can lead to massive performance and/or weight improvements. 3D printing can never fully replace conventional machining, it's rather an expansion of possibilities.

I like to tease Spacex fans about Quantum Computers, A.I. and . . . . nanotechnology making space rockets that will make SpaceX current fleet look like Ford model T's. I've shown them all kinds of A.I., Quantum Computing, and the latest nanotech developments, and have predicted that the first Mars settlers will be a nanotech team. There's so much there, I can't pick one example out.
I showed them this one Germany team that used A.I. and 3d printing to make a rocket that is unlike any rocket every seen. Right now, they can't build a Falcon 9 or Starship sized rocket with this. It'll prove interesting how fast they get to being able to do so!
Then there's nano-manufacturing. Manufacturing to the resolution of individual atoms. They've got electron microscope 3d printing down to individual atoms. But, they can only make nano-scale patterns right now.
Basically Czinger and other groups are giving a preview of things to come.

Like on the A.I front - there's memristers which can make computing far more energy efficient(like 95% less usage of energy than today's best transistors). They've made a 50 million memrister chip, and are on pace to get to billlions in three year span. So, just imagine memrister A.I in three years designing a hypercar.
