Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve (“Arrival,” “Blade Runner 2049”) directs Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ “Dune,” the big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal bestseller of the same name. A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence-a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential-only those who can conquer their fear will survive. The film stars Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Call Me by Your Name,” “Little Women”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep,” “Mission: Impossible - Fallout”), Oscar Isaac (the “Star Wars” franchise) Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (“Milk,” “Avengers: Infinity War”), Stellan Skarsgård (HBO’s “Chernobyl,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Avengers: Endgame”), Stephen McKinley Henderson (“Fences,” “Lady Bird”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: Homecoming,” HBO’s “Euphoria”), Chang Chen (“Mr. Long,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”), David Dastmalchian (“Blade Runner 2049,” “The Dark Knight”), Sharon Duncan-Brewster (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” Netflix’s “Sex Education”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), with Jason Momoa (“Aquaman,” HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Skyfall”). Villeneuve directed “Dune” from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth based on the novel of the same name written by Frank Herbert. Villeneuve also produced the film with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter and Joe Caracciolo, Jr. The executive producers are Tanya Lapointe, Joshua Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert. Behind the scenes, Villeneuve reteamed with two-time Oscar-nominated production designer Patrice Vermette (“Arrival,” “Sicario,” “The Young Victoria”), two-time Oscar-nominated editor Joe Walker (“Blade Runner 2049,” “Arrival,” “12 Years a Slave”), two-time Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert (“First Man,” “Blade Runner 2049”), and Oscar-winning special effects supervisor Gerd Nefzer (“Blade Runner 2049”). He also collaborated for the first time with Oscar-nominated director of photography Greig Fraser (“Lion,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”); three-time Oscar-nominated costume designer
Jacqueline West (“The Revenant,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Quills”) and co-costume designer Bob Morgan; and stunt coordinator Tom Struthers (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, “Inception”). Oscar-winning and multiple Oscar-nominated composer Hans Zimmer (“Blade Runner 2049,” “Inception,” “Gladiator,” “The Lion King”) is creating the score. Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Present “Dune.” The film is slated to be released in theaters on December 18, 2020.

I really hope this movie succeeds.

Everyone keeps mentioning the Floyd is reference to Jodorowsky (which I don’t doubt) but hasn’t anyone noticed the Toto music referred to in the beginning? And the Lynchr nods too? This has things in the trailer that Dune fans really recognize! I have high hopes for this film and I haven’t had that in a long time! May the Hand of God be upon you!

Film will bomb cause it wont be R rated and wont try to tell story instead it will try to sell a 1-2 hr skit over a 3-4 hr film.
Abc Def
Abc Def - 3 tundi tagasi
Villeneuve has said it will be a brutalist nightmare. Also, Dune will be in two parts, and the first part is unlikely to be 3-4 hrs long, as that too is known to hurt box office.

@Visuals For You IF its anything like how the dark tower went it will need it.. cause they will stay too safe... it could still do good just depends how much they cant get away with...
Visuals For You
Visuals For You - 4 tundi tagasi
@The One Truth Oh, I thought your only implication with "bomb" was that the film would do badly at the box office. I can see where you're coming from but I don't think an R rating will be necessary for Dune to be good. I'll have to see though.
The One Truth

@Visuals For You Pg -13 only attracts more people it does nothing for the story elements.. it in fact kills alot of movies that otherwise would have done better with more wiggle room. SO if the story suffers enough it wont matter if more people have access to it.. as in kids and family... And you can still show a rated R film to a child... Most the time it doesnt change much but the graphic content.. blood is red.. instead of green ect.. or more blood is alllowed the actual death scenes are more brutal ... My parents showed me Starship troopers and took me too see the blade films when they came out... I was only 8 at that time.. I would never hold my kids back from seeing mature content... they see far worse things just walking outside the house. Over some fake movie... SO nothing holds an R rated film back.. just parents really.

Why would it bomb for not being R-rated? A PG-13 rating would attract way more audiences. The cast has experience in PG-13 blockbuster franchises like Star Wars, DC, and Marvel, so younger audiences familiar with those franchises would want to see the same actors in Dune. There's only ever been one movie to reach a billion dollars with an R rating.

Dune, the book in which the big bad evil empire is...well, a big bad evil empire but actually a good guy at heart. The later God-Emperor is actually a heroic villain whose love and self-sacrifice for humanity truly knows no limits, and mankind keeps getting through the apocalypse by breeding like rabbits and getting everywhere like, well, sand.
midgetydeath - 6 tundi tagasi
Just don't forget the story in favor of action. The book was not very action oriented and was more about how the characters' actions shape the story itself. It's about the characters' lives inter-connecting to form a story, not about the action or even the politics. Those parts keep the reader focused on the story and give motivation and framework for the characters and are other times simply occurrences in their lives due to their actions or the actions of other characters. It's all an interwoven tapestry revolving around Spice, though each character has radically different motivations for wanting to control it. Whether it be for survival, for wealth, or to deny another character for some reason or another. Good and bad alike. Also, this music was freaking awesome where can I buy it?

the trailer makes it look reallyyy generic and whatever, but it's villeneuve and it's dune
Abc Def
Abc Def - 3 tundi tagasi
By "generic" you mean "like other movies I have seen". However, the novel Dune INSPIRED most of those movies (SW, GoT, etc), so that is an incorrect use of the word. No work should be compared to other works which loosely derived from it.

Oh friend, please do not read past this without considering this most important information. The Lord Jesus Christ is to return very soon and when He does, O friend, it will be too late to know Him! God your creator, so loved the world that He sent Jesus Christ who Is the Son of God and very God to die for the sins of the world. O friend think upon your eternity. This night you may die and pass into eternity. If you were to die in your sins, dear friend you will end up in Hell. Today, look to Jesus who paid for the penalty of sin, believe in Him, trust in Him and God will forgive you of all sins and make you a new person with a new heart and the joys of Heaven with Christ awaits you. Please dear reader, think upon your eternity. Time is short! Find a Bible or download a Bible app, read the Words of eternal life and find a Bible believing church to hear God's word being preached. Please friend consider your eternal soul!
'Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord , and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon'

Duncan is a black woman?? the actress in an interview said whats wrong with Duncan being a woman? Idk, whats wrong with mlk being played as a woman....hes, not a woman, thats whats wrong with it! Go woke, go broke, idiots never learn.

You are right. Actress Sharon DUNCAN-Brewster should play Duncan. It's right there in the surname. How much more obvious casting can you ask for? Obviously, Jason Momoa should play Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Momoa. Again, all there in the surname. How did Denis Villeneuve miss this? 😀 And of course, Villeneuve was fated since birth to make a Dune movie. After all, his parents named him Duneis. 😀

*You're* an idiot, as other have pointed out, and you have no right to call others idiots! First, Duncan is male. Second, MLK is a real person, while Liet Kynes is fictional, moron. There was a good reason for the change: to give Chani a clearer background, which was unfortunately lacking in the previous film.
